John McDonnell calls for a modern constitution which would affirm social rights to affordable healthcare, as well as care in old age.

He recognises the risks to human health from pollution and a stressful work environment and calls for these to be eradicated.

After focussing on Public Private Partnerships whose visctims include NHS staff made redundant by trusts unable to balance their books and patients who have to travel further as hospitals close specialist units, he concludes, “We   must move away from the profit-driven market economy”.
